Employee Profile: Andrea Morytko
Meet Andrea Morytko, Personal Lines Department Manager at Webber and Grinnell.
Throughout her 20 years in the insurance industry, Andrea has seen great change. Electronic files have replaced paper files, and local agents face ever-increasing competition from large direct writers.
One thing that hasn’t changed is customer appreciation for outstanding service, something that Andrea and her staff strive to deliver every day. “We have to be one step up in terms of service because there are so many options out there,” explains Andrea. “We offer a personal touch that you can’t get everywhere, and that’s what sets us apart.”
After graduating from UMass with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, an insurance career certainly didn’t seem a likely path for Andrea. However, when she joined the Copen agency in Northampton in 1993, her course shifted. According to Andrea, “I had no idea I would end up in insurance, and like it so much.”
When Webber and Grinnell acquired the Copen agency in 2002, Andrea was hired as a personal lines account manager. She was promoted to department manager in 2007.
In a market where insurance quotes are promised in minutes, Andrea and her staff take the time to meet the specific needs of each client. “People can be misled by what they see on television,” she said. “Quoting insurance is not a routine process for everyone. We need to sit down and learn everything about you so that we can adequately protect you.”
Andrea takes great pride in the superior service that the personal lines team provides. It makes her day when clients email, call or stop by her office to commend a staff member’s work. She can also recall several times when appreciative clients sent flowers to staff members.
Two thousand fourteen has been an exciting year for Andrea. After getting engaged on New Year’s Eve, she has been busy planning an October wedding. She lives in Amherst and enjoys watching movies in her spare time.
