In the state of Massachusetts, there were 136,384 auto collisions in 2008 alone according to information on the EOPSS website. These crashes resulted in 363 deaths and 3,747 serious injuries. Based on these statistics can you see the importance of not only maintaining Mass auto insurance, but also doing your part in reducing the amount of accidents that occur each year? Here are some safe driving tips to keep in mind.

  • You should never take your eyes off the road. Checking a text, dialing a number, looking for a new CD, or turning around to yell at your kids could take up the precious seconds you could have used to avoid an accident.
  • Keeping your car well-maintained can help prevent a vehicle malfunction, which is especially dangerous while driving on the highway. What condition are your tires in? When was the last time your vehicle had an oil change? Such questions as these should regularly be considered by all drivers.
  • By adjusting your driving habits to the weather and road conditions, you can lower your risk of an accident. You should slow down in less than perfect road conditions, such as during a thunderstorm. When it seems too dangerous to drive, stay home if you can. Running errands or seeing the newest movie is not worth risking your life for.

Is it your aim to become or continue being a safe driver? This is a reasonable goal but unfortunately many drivers, despite their best efforts, will eventually experience an accident. This is when having Mass auto insurance can pay off, as your policy may help cover the related expenses.
